Evil In Our Society
I think the greatest evil in our society today is selfishness. So many people are self-absorbed and only think about themselves. I think it is natural to fall into the habit as all of us tend to do sometime, but there are some people who are not willing to stop. I remember during a class discussion about Kony I mentioned that people automatically think they have to help poor countries, when all reality it's the people right next door who need the most help. If we took the time everyday to step out of our comfort zone just once and put someone in front of ourselves I think everyone would feel a little bit better.I myself can be selfish at times, but I try to make an effort to think about others. That doesn't mean that I have to go around feeding every hunger person or clothing all the homeless, but the littlest things of unselfishness make a difference. I try to be courteous to someone who needs quite or think I would I like it if someone did that to me. I think if he all made attention to the times we are selfish we could make up for it in some way and work on it little by little.

Temptations of Jesus
The first temptation of Jesus was to turn stones into bread in order to relieve his hunger. I think that a similar temptation today could be one's on need to relieve their hungry for popularity or acceptance. This day in age young people tend to want to fit in and would do anything to do so. Such as changing their appearance, doing things that they know is not them, or even worse bullying. I think that the root of most bullying is the need for someone to feel better about themselves or metaphorically to relieve hunger. The second temptation was for Jesus to jump from the pinnacle and rely on angels to break his fall. A similar temptation today could be how others tend to rely on others or certain thing to save them. Some people put their burdens on others and expect them to save them. Another example is how people rely on drugs, alcohol, or self-injury to save themselves. The third temptation is Jesus was to worship the devil . A similar temptation today could be one's tendency to support ideas that may not be right. Some people are for cheating or underage drinking or drug use. This temptation causes people loose themselves or to become involved in things that they know are not righ
Dorothy Day
I really enjoyed learning about Dorothy Day because it really showed me that an ordinary person who didn't go through great extremes or visions from God can make a difference. Unlike the other saints Dorothy Day helped those around her including the poor. In 7th grade we learned about Dorothy Day in my religion class and ever since then I have never forgot about her. We also watched a movie about her and I thought that the movie was very true to heart. I love hearing stories about people before my time that go through similar situations as we do in our day. For example, Dorothy Day became pregnant and had to raise her child without the father. It goes to show that nothing in our world really ends and the same world problems still exist. I thought it was also interesting how her newspaper is still sold today for a penny.

Favorite Mother Teresa Quote
My favorite quote is, If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one person who has nothing to eat. I like this quote because I know that I am not capable of called to do the work of Mother Teresa and I know that it is impossible for me to feed thousands of people as well. I do know that I can at least make a difference in one persons life. Watching Mother Teresa has made me think about what my calling is and I know that I want to be a Reproductive Endocrinologist, or fertility doctor, when I grow up. I know that I will not be able go help everyone that comes my way but I can at least help one person in my lifetime and even that is more than enough.
Loneliness Is The Greatest Poverty of Rich Countries
I believe that this statement is true because even though there is poverty in the third world countries and things like that, there is still poverty right next door. All the money in the world can not provide a feeling of love or fill that hole loneliness can create. I believe that rich people are equally just as unhappy and deprived like those suffering in other countries. Although they may not be suffering physically from starvation or dehydration, these people can suffer from other things such as selfishness, depression or many other problems. I believe that us there is nothing worse in this world than having s feeling of not being love. This reminds of the idea that would you rather love and never be loved or be loved but never love. I think both these apply in our countries today.
I think that people in our rich countries need to put themselves in other people's shoes to get a sense of what it really means to be blessed. I think we take things for granted and put material things in front of what really matters making it more susceptible to loneliness.

Thoughts On Reflection
I like that we do the Pray As You Go everyday before class. It gives me chance a to forget about school and everything and relax. I can take time out of my day and connect with God. Sometimes it's nice to forget everything and focus on whats important. I also like how the readings seem to tie in with something that we still face and still have to deal with. They are very relatable and easy to connect to
